If you are reading this now, you are probably fed up with not having enough money to do all the things you want to do in life. You might even be looking for a quick and easy way to get hold of some cash, or perhaps hoping to find a way of attracting a substantial amount of money into your life! Well, there are plenty of get rich quick schemes out there, and of course, there’s always the lotto..but did you know that 95% of lottery winners end up broke (and some even suicidal) within three to five years?
Unfortunately, these people have what is known as a “poverty consciousness” – that is, they simply do not possess the mindset necessary to cope with their newfound wealth – and the money disappears almost as quickly as it came.
But why do the majority of people have a “poverty consciousness” and how can such a mindset cause a person to continually repel riches?
Well, while you were growing up, you may have heard parents, peers or certain relatives say things like “money doesn’t grow on trees”, or “there just isn’t enough to go around” or perhaps “money is the root of all evil”. Negative statements such as these can leave powerful impressions on a child’s mind; impressions which can (and almost certainly will) dictate the level of wealth he or she will achieve in life.
Many people are raised to believe that being wealthy is bad, or that to be rich you have to be nasty or greedy. Statements like “who do they think they are with that car?” or “gosh, how the other half live” or even “I hate the rich” are telltale signs of a “poverty consciousness” and can do very little to help a young mind develop the wealthy mindset necessary to achieve financial success later in life.
It’s no wonder that so many people have grown up with the perception that money is scarce or bad, and that it takes lots of hard work just to make ends meet!
But no-one can be blamed for the negative things we were taught as children, and it’s highly likely that the people who gave us those ideas were raised with exactly the same kind of thinking. What is important now, is that we change those old negative beliefs and ideas so that money can flow freely into our lives – unhindered by the kind of thinking that previously kept it away!
So what is the secret to becoming wealthy, and perhaps more importantly, how do we stay that way?
Experts tell us that it really is in our mindset. Wealthy people stay rich simply because of the way they think – they have what is known as a “prosperity consciousness” – thinking only in terms of prosperity and abundance, rather than lack and limitation. These people could lose every penny they have in a poor investment, and in only a short period of time, have the money back in their possession once again. This happens often, and in fact, some of the wealthiest people in the world have openly admitted going from millionaire to broke (and then back to millionaire) several times in their lives.
But how do we change the harmful beliefs that hold us back from living the life of our dreams?
We have to create a wealth mindset in ourselves. We must become more attractive to money; enjoy spending it, appreciate it, share it, and think of it as a loyal servant (rather than some sort of evil dictator)! We must understand that there are no limits to the abundance we can enjoy in our lives, and we must allow others to enjoy wealth, knowing that we too deserve to be wealthy. When we learn to feel good about money, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and allow true wealth and prosperity to flow into our lives.
